Naira - "Look what the cat dragged in"

Post by Windra » Sat May 16, 2020 5:11 am

Name:
Naira

Species:
Chimera Soul Reaver

Age:
Exact age unknown. Appears to be in late teens/early twenties.

Gender:
Female

Appearance:
Average height with the build of an athletic runner. Naira stands at an easy 5'7". Her complexion is somewhat tan, kissed from constant exposure to the sun. Brown chestnut hair hangs just above shoulder height, with longer strands dangling over her face. Green eyes blink under a broad forehead - but they are unusual. The right iris is a vibrant emerald, while the left is milky and blind. Naira typically covers that handicap with a patch or cloth of some kind.

Naira's clothing consists of bits and bobs from different cultures in different worlds. Recently she has favored a rustic duster from the Old West. She is rarely seen without a headband or gloves.

For all intents and purposes, she is human ... save for the slender silver dragon's tail (tipped with a broken yellow spade) and draconic feet (with sharp alabaster talons).

Personality:
Outgoing and willful, Naira would be considered neutral good in that she could care less what side of the tracks you're on ... She just wants everybody to (try to) get along. Often charitable and good company, the reaver will step over her bounds to put somebody in their place, and she has been known to be a ruthless avenger. Naira can be excruciatingly blunt. She has some problems conveying deeper emotions, and her attempts to keep the peace between multiple individuals has landed her in hot water more than once.

Here lately, Naira has become more withdrawn. A glimpse askance might reward you with a troubled gaze focused on nothing.

Traits:

Naira is undead.

She has what is known as a 'reaper metabolism'. Sickness does not affect her. Wounds inflicted upon her by the living heal nigh instantaneously, but an injury caused by something similar to herself will take time to mend.

She cannot die like the living do. Starvation and dehydration may alter her mentality, but not kill her. However, she is not immune to the ethereal. And even death may die.

Naira was once able to teleport from one location to another with only the image of the destination in her mind. That ability seems to have fizzled out.

In fact, many of her previous powers appear to have vanished.

Family:
None that are alive.

Known History:
Naira's history is long and tumultuous. She would rather avoid the subject. She has, however, been a 'frequent flyer' in Deep Forest.

How did your character find these lands?:
That story involves a dragon and a city that never sleeps. Very messy.

Anything Else We Need to Know?:
I am a slow player, due to the fact that I am raising a baby and working full time (while being pregnant again). Be aware that I may only be active on weekends. I will be setting up a discord so that you can get whole of me there if you need to.

First RP in these lands:

...how...

It hurt to think. Ached to breath. The action of dragging one feet behind the other was enough to spring tears to her eyes.

Lips of sandpaper were not appeasing to the scaly tongue that slipped across them. Her throat burned hotter than feverish eyelids. The metaphysical anchor drowning her in the seas of fatigue was dampened only by the searing wetness running down the length of her back. Hot liquid rolled over the undulating ridges of her exposed spine, speckling green grass with pitter patters of blood.

Such a sorry sight was she. Once proud and strong, now mutilated. Naira's flesh told of unknown horror - bruises and scars in different stages of healing, pallor from blood loss, several long and ragged claw marks exposing pearlescent vertebrae ...

She didn't remember from whence she came.

Nor how she got here.

But the song of the forest was welcoming. So much so that she collapsed face first into the plants once her body crossed under the woodlands' canopy.

Kit was snuggled up in a tight blue ball of fur among the tree branches. She was pleasantly deep in slumber in the cool shade. As she slept, a sound of something hitting the ground nearby caused her right ear to twitch. Kit kept to herself as she always did. She couldn't remember anything from her past or her origin; so since her arrival to this forest, she found it best not to go out of her way to greet anyone or make new friends. She was always a loner by nature; she found it hard to try to trust others or difficult on how to befriend anyone. The scent of blood captured her noses attention. She sniffed the air as she slowly raised her head from behind her long puffy tail. After locating the direction of where the origin of the blood was coming from; Kit opened her glowing yellow eyes. She opened her mouth wide in a huge yawn, exposing her razor sharp teeth. Kit then ushered herself to stand on her four paws and stretch the tired out of her body. Once fully awake, Kit effortlessly jumped out of the branches and landed soundlessly onto the damp soil of the forest floor. Kit then looked around to make sure there was no other beings about. Once satisfied that she was indeed alone; Kit trotted toward the edge of the forest to see what was going on.

After several minutes, she arrived at the forest edge, she sniffed about trying to see where the now potent scent of blood was. Was it food? Was it someone in trouble? What was it? Kit's stomach growled at the thought that there might be a free meal. It had been a couple days since she last ate anything. Her nose twitched as her ears swiveled about. There was no noise. Kit swished her tail as she scanned around for danger. Then she saw it; the source of blood. There was a strange being lying on the ground. Kit trotted along the forest line, eager to make sure it was dead so she could eat. She licked her lips as she got closer. There was so much blood. Kit stopped several feet away and looked at it curiously. She had never seen anything like this wandering the forest or anywhere that she knew of. She crept closer and sniffed it's wrist. It didn't smell old. Maybe it was a fresh kill? Kit stood up and looked around to see if there was a predator around that belonged to this....whatever it was.

Trying to swallow was the rough equivalent to forcing a bushel of nails down her throat. Too dry were her eyes to open. To weak were her limbs to untangle.

There was no respite from the heat. What shade was provided by the dense forest's intertwining branches remained warm despite the dark. Yet it was refreshing. And bright beyond the pink of closed eyelids. Nairahad known darkness for too long.

Hadn't she?

With wounds continuing to weap, turning yellow dandelions crimson, the faint rise of shallow breaths was the only sign of life.

Her skin would feel cold and clammy.

Kit sniffed the thing lying in front of her. It was odd to look at. But then it caught her attention; the almost silent sound of breathing. The thing was STILL ALIVE! Kit jumped back several feet and hunched her back with her fur standing on end almost like a razor back. Kit whined out a growl of unease as she tucked her now fluffed out tail underneath herself. She yipped while snapping her jaws open in shut out of nervousness. Her ears were plastered back against her head as she crept closer while hunched. Kit glowed slightly and nipped at the things head of hair. No reaction. She grabbed a mouthful of hair and pulled. When the thing moaned slightly she dropped its head and jumped back. Kit was on edge with this thing. Yes it was hurt; yes it was weak. But this thing was WAY bigger than her. Kit chuffed slightly before approaching again. She had to hide her new find. Once it died properly she would feast on this interesting thing. She didn't want to share, whatever this thing was.

Kit circled the being trying to analyze how to move such a creature. She knew her two-legged form was too weak to carry the thing. She cocked her head to the side and perked her ears forward as she sniffed the beings clothing. Keeping her tail tucked beneath her, Kit grumbled a moan as she opened her jaws and snapped them shut on the beings' pants. She then again put her ears back as she pulled with all her strength. The being began to move along the ground. Kit yanked again and again, slowly pulling the being deeper into the forest. The being had some weight to it; but she had pulled some heavier prey before.

After several hours, Kit dropped the thing and panted as she surveyed the area. Now the next hardest task was getting this heavy object into the trees. Kit had to catch her breath before trying such a task. She sat down next to the limp body before settling down into a lying position. She kept her ears and head on a swivel to defend her prey. There were few dangers in the forest; but Kit trusted no one even if they tried to befriend her. She had a rough recent past leading to the finding of the forest. Anything before that; she couldn't remember. The only thing that mattered to her at the present moment was to soon fill her now empty belly and her depleted fat reserves.

Pen was a ten year old grey koala who watched from the safety of the tree as he saw the cat dragging something with it. He had gone up earlier to eat a few apples as he had been feeling a bit hungry. Being on his own after being thrown out of his colony had been a bit of challenge and it was a bit harder on him as his mother had died when he was quite young. He had always been a bit smaller then the other koalas. Still the others made fun of him and essentially drove him out as he had decided to wear a diaper around his bottom to feel a bit closer to his mother.

He cried for her at night sometimes as she came to him during his sleep. He wanted to spend more time with her, but always felt a bit too short. Yet he did have one friend if you call her friend. A closet monster by the name of Cauldron. She always found some kind of mischief to get Pen in, though she mainly enjoyed playing with him at night to feed on his nightmares. She usually let him stay a bit longer, as he knew liked to be a bit reluctant to be changed at times. Still she found it a pretty fun game to play with him. Cauldron as could take on any form she pleased, though she tended to stick with the frame of a rabbit. Cauldron had always been the age of 4 most of her life as the timeline she came from most closet monsters had already died off and children were very protected.

So she along with her sisters had to find ways to scare the adults, be it setting certain wars in order, or starting up talk shows, but mainly they enjoyed creating a bit of music to pass the time. They had grew board of it after a while and decided to travel to a friendlier time and it is during their little adventure they met Pen the koala out in the woods.

...where...

Naira was unaware of the creature at her feet. Nor had she any sense of her pant leg being tugged at, the ungraceful bumps and dips as her near-lifeless carcass was dragged across ragged stones and uneven land.

She heard panting, but it spunded so faint and far away...

... And water.

water

So close. Perhaps. Her sandpaper throat screamed for relief.

Movement stopped. That trickle of liquid sanctuary was so close.

water

Opening an eye was a bit like ripping glue from the flesh. Naira swallowed air - a trembling breath that raked a hot knife along her back.

Intermingling with the scent of spring water - the iron of blood.

"...wa...ter...," she wheezed weakly, fingers faintly grasping dirt and grass in fhe direction she thought the stream sounded it was in.
