Starting today a new plot will begin that will a bit different from the ones we've had so far. This is mostly because there are a few options for people, some you will be able to choose yourself, others you'll have no choice but to get involved in (ha ha!). The main story will take place in RP obviously, but for everybody's convenience I will be putting up short clippings above under the "Voice of Deep Forest" section of the new announcements with whatever is happening that you should know about. This includes where the event is taking place, like which RP forums, and who can or can not participate/notice the event going on. For example: if the current event consist of a tree falling down (stupid example) then the Forest forum would be stage and only the ones standing near the tree would be allowed to notice the event.
These events will be very short and only to let you know that something is going on to keep the announcements short and from stretching the board. If needed I will add a more thorough description/explanation in this thread, where you can ask questions about what is going on as well. The "Voice of Deep Forest" text in the announcement is a link, so you can always find this thread that way.
Alright, how does this new plot work?
A new entry in the RP announcements above will trigger a new event. Best thing would be to come to this thread when you see this to see if any extra information is given. Not all questions will be answered if the answer will reveal information that could be considered to be a spoiler to the plot.
Some events may be general like the current one and then you can decide for yourself how your characters respond to it and how to go from there (do something about it/go back to whatever they were doing before).
Others may be bigger and harder to ignore, but characters can still go back to their own business if they so wish.
And then you have the "youcantignoreme events" which will invade whatever RP threads are relevant to the current event going on with no choice but to go along with it. Don't worry, if this is the case your characters are most likely already involved anyway, or their players are trying to get them involved. (Only exception is if characters involved in an event/mission encounters other characters who aren't.)
This plot is entirely dependant on player participation. By this I mean that all of you will decide how big this becomes. Every event has an NPC solution if needed, so at worst all this plot will turn out to be is some extra ambience for your RP. At best everybody will get involved in one way or another, and add layers to the storyline of the plot to make it even bigger. But most importantly, this storyline will provide you with RP material, but you'll have to act on it yourself: be creative and work with what you see is going on instead of waiting for some of it to come to you (because it won't). To use the previous example of the falling tree: if your character saw it go down, then don't stand around staring at it and discussing the sound falling trees make when nobody is around, but go investigate in any way your character can think of to see what made it go down in the first place. Maybe you'll get lucky and trigger another event. That brings me to the final thing I want to mention: a lot of these events need to be triggered through RP. If they aren't triggered then they obviously won't happen. It won't affect the storyline, but it will lessen the opportunities to get involved. (Disclaimer: your character won't always get involved with what is going when they follow up on an event, sometimes an event is just some material to help you get creative in RP >.> )
The only way to participate at all is to get your characters in the main RP areas or they will not be able to respond to events! Only opportunities are provided, you make the fun yourself!
That is all you need to know for now, things will get much more complicated and darker later on with more options for participation, but I'll save those explanations for when they are needed ^_~ Have fun!

On this early spring day a sudden rumbling deep sound can be heard, closely followed by a slight vibration beneath the feet/paws/claws/talons/hooves. The earth beneath Deep Forest trembles for a few moments only, enough to be easily felt and heard, but not hard enough to do any damage or throw anyone on the ground easily off balance. What just happened?
This event takes place in all the main RP forums only.
The ground just shook! It was very light however, just some vibrations that made it to the surface. You can fill in yourself how your surroundings responded to this (birds flying away, critters are startled, leaves fell from some bushes, etc). No hints can be detected as to what the source of this shaking could have been.
At last, an adventure reminiscent of those Usborne Puzzle Books! I love it! I just hope StarCrosser gets accepted before it's all over.
Whenever the earth moves in Deep Forest, things are afoot.
