Photo Fantastic

While cleaning out my old house, I came across a picture so cute that it's physically painful to look at. My Grandma is one of those cute old ladies anyway, but I guess that a bunch of kittens had been abandoned at her doorstep a few years before I was born. She being the sweet ol' gal that she is, she brings them in and bottle feeds them until they're big enough to find homes. Anyway, in this picture, my grandmother is holding a basket full of kittens with this huge grin on her face. What's cuter than Jah's Grandma? Why Jah's Grandma holding a basket full of kittens, of course!

Continuing through the box I found a picture of my father trying to change one of my diapers while my sister was climbing on him. The best part of this photo is my father's father in the background laughing at him. It makes sense, though, because there never was a little hellion like he was. All of my relatives were shocked he didn't wind up in prison by age 20 based on how he was at age 5. Pop (my grandpa) had to secure him in a straight-jacket hold, clasping him to his chest, just to keep him from causing mayhem. Even then, Dad knew how to go limp for just long enough to make the old man let down his guard. Once, they were on a subway and there was a woman with long, long hair in front of them. Pop got distracted for one second and suddenly, my father lunged out of his arms and just started full on swinging on this woman's hair. After hearing this tale, I suddenly felt less guilty about taking fistfulls of HIS hair when I was a wee one.

The picture under that was of me with my Great Aunt Grace, the fantastic old lady who once beat up a Catholic nun, shortly before she died. Pictures of long-ago fishing trips with my dad, my mother's horrible 80's perm, that stray cat I made friends with when I was four... The point I'm making here is that people shove all of these awesome memories into a box or an album and forget that they're there. Tonight, or the next time you're bored, dig them out--you'll be surprised what you've forgotten! If you find anything cool, feel free to share. :)

I did that...

Last week actually. I went through my diaries from when I was a kid. It was fantastic to read my thoughts back then, and man, I was a mad little kid! People always thought I was such a sweet and passive little girl, but they never realized what went on on the inside :p And I found letters from my best freinds when I was a teen, awesome ^_^ Teenagers are funny creatures with the most interesting thoughts that provide endless entertainment when looking back at them years later.

A granny holding kittens, that just sounds like a hallmark card that'll make your teeth rot when you look at it :p So your dad had karma come back and laugh in his face by giving him you, eh? And his father laughing at him, you have no idea how much I laughed when I read all that, lol!

Haha, reading through

Haha, reading through teenage-angst papers is always funny. Teenagers know everything, of course, it just takes a few more years to learn how little that's actually true.

And countless generations have passed a curse down through the ages in my family and many others. MAY YOU HAVE CHILDREN EXACTLY LIKE YOU! XD My Grandmother wanted nothing more than a daughter and wound up with three sons. Dad found himself suddenly outnumbered by females, and went to Pop for sympathy, but Pop was the only boy of seven children--and the youngest. The look on my dad's face in that picture is just too much. Long-suffering, eyebrows raised in a bemused fashion, looking straight at where my mother was holding the camera and doubtlessly laughing herself sick.

I wish I had some of those

I wish I had some of those happy memories tucked away in the box. It would be nice to have something like that to look at on those gloomy rainy days. Glad you have something nice to look back on. [:
